So much to enjoy in the Thor movie! Great performances all around, with Chris Hemsworth proving to be abs-olutely (he he) the right choice to play the lead, and not just because of his physical appearance. (Said the lady behind us in the theater, during the Shirtless Scene: “Ang laki niya! ‘Teh, nakakatakot.”)
Tom Hiddleston brings remarkable depth to the character of Loki, and personally, I loved Jamie Alexander as Sif. *sigh* :) Anthony Hopkins and Natalie Portman are reliable as always, never phoning it in as actors sometimes do when they’re in a ‘comic-book movie’ (sorry George Clooney, I was thinking of you). And Kat Dennings, in a role that couuld have been utterly useless, pulls off some of the best lines.
The story is tight, despite being woven from something like 50 years of comics history. No room for Surtur or Beta Ray Bill or even Fin Fang Foom in this one, fellow geeks, but at least we get THE DESTROYER. Oh yes. Great job, J. Michael Straczynski and company.
We watched it in 2D, by the way. Am considering watching it again, in 3D. :)
