The King of Nothing to Do

Yet another assortment of images and text with which to distract yourself from the crushing hopelessness of day to day living. Enjoy!

These posts are the result of record-breaking feats of procrastination. You may reach me at thekingofnothingtodo at yahoo dot com.
Set their hearts and fix their coursesI know it almost isn’t May any more, but here it is anyway: my more-or-less-monthly mix of songs-I’ve-been-into-lately, arranged with your listening pleasure in mind. This one’s kinda summery, which would have been more appropriate before the rains, but oh well, it’s still fun!01 Matt Pond PA > Love to Get Used02 Mixtapes > Hope is for People03 Joywave > Golden State04 Miami Horror > Holidays05 Scritti Politti > Tinseltown to the Boogiedown06 Elzhi > It Ain’t Hard to Tell07 Golden Bloom > You Go On (& On)08 The Dogs > Dance More09 The New Division > Starfieldhttp://www.mediafire.com/?yng8u3318w03nqaWe hit the ground running with Matt Pond PA and “Love to Get Used” — driving beat, sunny-cynical chorus and all. The ever-enjoyable punk-tinged pop of Mixtapes is next, with another anthem for living. Joywave keep the positive sounds pumping with “Golden State.” Off Miami Horror’s debut album from last year is “Holidays,” which is as blissfully danceably vacation-y as its title implies.“Tinseltown to the Boogiedown” is an old favorite, but it’s off the new Scritti Politti release, their first-ever career-spanning compilation. Next is Elzhi, with a Michael Jackson-sampling track from his Illmatic reworking. We go on (and on) with Golden Bloom’s irresistibly catchy rock song about survival (or something like it). The Dogs urge us to dance more, always a good idea (and especially easy when they change gears from acoustic-strummy to stomp-around with that raucous “Hey!”). We fade out with “Starfield,” as night falls and we look at the sky and think of stars that have gone out and satellites we’ll never see.
